The Cougar Run

What is The Cougar Run?

Champlain College-Lennoxville is thrilled to announce the second edition of The Cougar Run, a family-friendly 5k race around our beautiful campus. Cougar Runners, Cougar Racers, Cougar Cubs, and Mini Cougars – be ready to be showered with colourful powder as you run, jog, or walk your way through our fun colour stations.

The Cougar Run is a fundraiser event in support of the Champlain-Lennoxville Foundation. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward athletic excellence (participation in national championships) and the General Fund, which supports overall student success and well-being.

Registration includes admission to The Cougar Run, a Cougar Paw temporary tattoo, your race bib, water, snacks, and access to our bouncy house! The lucky first 150 participants to register will also receive a pair of Cougar Run sunglasses and a Cougar Run t-shirt – the perfect additions to your runner’s outfit!

BEFORE THE EVENT

Do we have to register to attend?

Participants must register prior to the event. Click here to fill out the registration form.

What should I wear?

In addition to your brightest smile, we suggest wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting colourful or stained a little. Coloured powder appears most vibrant on white clothes. We also suggest bringing sunglasses and something to cover your car seats for your drive home.

We will not have storage facilities on campus, so please plan to bring only what you can carry with you onto the course.

Can my friends and I wear costumes?

Yes, you can. Be creative! Please make sure that your costumes are appropriate for running. The safety of our participants is our priority.

Can I bring my pet?

We LOVE pets, but the race is animal free. For the safety of pets and all participants, please leave your furry friends at home.

RACE DAY

Can I sign up the day of the event?

Yes, participants may register until Saturday, May 11th at 9 a.m.

How long will the race take to complete?

On average, the course takes about 20 minutes to run or an hour to walk.

What time should I arrive?

We recommend participants arrive between 9:00-9:15 a.m. as the race starts at 10:00 a.m. This will give you enough time to get your entry bib, stretch, and participate in the warm-up workout.

Are there toilets on site?

Yes! Toilets are located in the Champlain Building, next to the start/finish area.

Can I get a refund?

All sales are final. Therefore, please double-check your calendar prior to signing up.
No refunds will be given unless the event is cancelled by the College.

Can I walk the race?

Definitely! You can run, jog, walk, or dance your way through the course.

Can I rollerblade or skateboard through the course?

Participants must complete the course on foot, so we ask that you leave your rollerblades and skateboards at home.

What if it rains on event day?

We run our race rain or shine! Rain just brightens the colours 😉 If the weather is deemed dangerous by the College or local authorities, we will email you with cancellation or postponement details.

Where do I get my entry bib?

You will receive your entry bib upon arrival on the day of the event.

Where do we find the photos after the event?

Photos will be available on our Facebook and Instagram pages in the weeks following the event.

Is the race timed?

No, the event is untimed. We just want you to have fun! We invite anyone who wants a finish time to self-time using a personal watch.

COLOUR SAFETY AND CLEANING

Does the colour clean off?

The powdered color is washable, and should easily wash off after the event. The sooner you wash your skin, your hair, and your clothes, the better.

Is the coloured powder safe?

The health of our participants and volunteers is our top priority. The powder is non-toxic and cornstarch-based. Our volunteers have been instructed to throw colours below the head. We suggest that runners wear sunglasses or goggles if they are concerned about getting powder in their eyes.

PARKING

Where do I park?

We highly recommend you arrive early for this event. Parking is available in P1.

Is parking free?

Yes, parking is free for the day.
