Social Science – NEW Fall 2023*

Psychology and Society

The Psychology and Society Profile focuses on the role of the individual in society and provides students with prerequisites in biology and statistics for Psychology programs at the university level.

 

Students will focus their studies on the disciplines of Psychology (Psychology of Mental Health) and Sociology (Social Issues: From Private Troubles to Collective Responses).

Criminology

The Criminology Profile provides students with the opportunity to study issues and challenges related to crime and criminal behaviour from the perspective of the law, the individual, and society.

 

Studies in this theme will focus on the disciplines of History (Archives on Trial), Psychology (Psychology and Crime), Political Science (Criminal Justice) and Sociology (The Sociology of Deviance and Crime).

 

Commerce

The Commerce Profile enables students to explore their interests and engage with problems related to the world of business administration. The Profile is organized to offer appropriate Social Science perspectives, while also providing university prerequisites for university-level business programs.

 

Students will focus their studies in Economics (Microeconomics), Business Administration (Next Level Business) and Math (Differential Calculus and Linear Algebra and Vector Geometry, optional Integral Calculus.)

Sports and Leisure

with or without math

The Sports and Leisure Profile allows students to explore significant social and academic issues related to sports and leisure in society and will support professional and academic aspirations, ensuring a rigorous Social Science approach to the study of sports and related leisure activities in the contemporary world.

 

Students will study the profile theme through the lens of Ancient Civilizations (Sport, Entertainment, and Leisure in the Ancient World), Geography (Cultural Landscapes of Sports and Leisure), and Psychology (The Psychology of Sport, Exercise, and Leisure).

 

This profile preserves the option for university prerequisites in Math for students to substitute some of their Social Science option classes with Differential Calculus and Linear Algebra and Vector Geometry.

Global Studies

with or without math

The Global Studies Profile explores contemporary approaches to challenges and issues that transcend borders. Students in the Profile will take courses that will employ relevant disciplinary tools to address questions of global concern from the disciplines of Geography (What on Earth), Political Science (variety of options), Economics (Advanced Global Economics) and History (Contemporary World).

 

 

This profile preserves the option for university prerequisites in Math for students to substitute some of their Social Science option classes with Differential Calculus and Linear Algebra and Vector Geometry.
