National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Today marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
On December 6th, every year, we commemorate and remember the 14 women victims of the École Polytechnique de Montréal who were murdered in an act of gender-based violence. This is a day where we mourn the loss of one of our graduates, Annie Turcotte. In her honour, we have displayed a commemorative plaque in our front lobby and have named one of our scholarships after her.
As a community, let’s come together to remember Annie Turcotte as well as the other victims and use this day to reflect on how we can take action to help and support women, girls and all gender diverse individuals who are facing gender-based violence in their day-to-day lives.
We would like to remind you that if you need support, there are mental health resources available to you as a Champlain student. You may reach out to Student Services (StudentServices-Lennox@crcmail.net) to have a safe place to express yourself. We are here for you! We also encourage our community to support victims of gender-based violence by speaking up when you see or hear comments degrading women or reinforcing stereotypes.
