Winter Orientation for New Students

WELCOME TO THE WINTER 2019 SEMESTER AT CHAMPLAIN LENNOXVILLE!

WHAT ARE MY NEXT STEPS?

Thursday, January 10 after 6:00 p.m. – You will be able to access your official timetable via “my Lennoxville”.

 

Thursday, January 10 – Move in day for students who have rented a room in our residences, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

 

Friday, January 11 – All new students are requested to participate in a mandatory ORIENTATION DAY: Welcome, Workshops, I.D. card pick up, Campus Tours, Bystander Training.  Come meet other new students, staff and faculty, and find answers to all your questions to get off to a good start!  Please come to room C345 for 9:00 a.m. and expect to stay until 4:00 p.m.  Attendance will be taken and your participation in all activities of the day is mandatory.  Lunch will be provided!

 

Monday, January 14 – CLASSES BEGIN!

 

Tuesday, January 15 – CLUB DAY beginning at 12:30 p.m.

 

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, January 15, 16, 17 – COUGAR CAFÉ in the Champlain Lobby.  Come for hot chocolate and coffee served by your Cougar Ambassadors!  They can answer any questions you may have!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

COURSE CHANGES

The College may have modified your course schedule.  If you need to make adjustments or add courses, you may do so from January 15 – 18.  Sign up sheets to make an appointment with an Academic Advisor will be located in the Records Office (Champlain 139).

COURSE DELETION DEADLINE

The official Ministry deadline to drop a course (have it removed from your schedule) is September 14 in the fall semester and February 14 in the winter semester.  You must see an Academic Advisor by this date to remove any courses from your schedule that you are not attending, otherwise they will remain on your permanent academic transcript as failures.

STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS

All students are required to have a student I.D. card.  Students who are unable to submit a photo through Omnivox will need to inform the Records Office (Champlain 139).

STUDENT IMAGE REFUSAL FORM

If you do not wish to have your photo, image, or video captured at Champlain College sponsored activities or events and published for promotional purposes, a Student Photo/Image/Video Refusal form is attached for you to sign and return.  Students under 18 years old require a legal guardian to sign their form.

COURSE PACKS

Some courses have course packs in addition to, or instead of textbooks.  These are mandatory and may be purchased from the receptionist in the main lobby.

 

Payment methods include cash, credit or debit card.

COMPUTER LAB CARDS, WIFI, OFFICE 365

All new students receive a computer lab card with a Username and Password which gives you access to the computers in the labs.  Students must respect the rules posted in the labs.

 

There is free WiFi in the Champlain Building.  Select the CRC-LENNOX network and enter your  Username and Password when prompted.

 

To access Office 365 go to www.office.com (this link is also on the on the Champlain website).  Your Office 365 account is your Username followed by @crc-lennox.qc.ca (LE1234567@crc-lennnox.qc.ca) and the Password is your Computer Lab Password.

CAMPUS BOOKSTORE

Textbooks and other school supplies can be purchased at the Campus Bookstore.

PRINT CREDIT

Each student will receive a $5.00 credit for printing in the Champlain computer labs at the beginning of the semester. The cost is 10 cents/page or 14 cents for recto-verso (both sides).  To purchase print credit, students may see the Reception desk in the Main lobby.

RESIDENCE

For any inquiries about the Champlain residence, please see John Lombardo (Champlain 134) or Olga Bloudek (Champlain 169).  Please note that parking passes for the Champlain Residences must be purchased for students who wish to park at the residence.

CHAMPLAIN STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION

Come visit the Champlain Students’ Association (CSA) in the Student Union Building (under Tim Horton’s).  Our student executives can introduce themselves, and you can check out the Cougar Store – toques, sweatshirts and more are for sale.  Show your Cougar Pride!

FREE AGENDAS

Pick one up during the COUGAR CAFÉ  (in Champlain lobby) or at the Champlain Students’ Association office (Student Union Building)

PARKING INFORMATION

Parking passes may be purchased at Bishop’s Campus Security.  Security is open from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Students with special needs who may need accommodations are encouraged to contact Lucinda Doheny, Champlain 131 or at ldoheny@crcmail.net

PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES

Be dressed and prepared to be physically active for your first scheduled class.  The first class in each course is given in the Sports Complex.

SCIENCE LABS

The professors in your theory classes will tell you when your labs will begin.

LOCKERS

Lockers are available to rent from the receptionist starting the second week of classes.  There is a $20.00 deposit, $10.00 of which will be refunded at the end of the year upon return of the lock and combination card.  Students who have a lab in the science building should request a locker in the Johnson Building.

PARTIAL REFUNDS

Partial refunds for students not coming to Champlain will be considered if the College is notified in writing BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES.
