Student Guide – Winter 2024

If you are missing an evaluation in your class due to illness, medical/dentist appointments, deaths or other, you must contact Kelsey Cassin by MIO and provide the Academic Dean’s Office with the proper documentation if you wish to be excused from class.

Your official schedule will be made available on Wednesday, January 17 after 5:00 p.m. 

Retrieval of the course schedule on Omnivox confirms attendance; students who do not pick up their schedules by the first day of classes will have their semesters cancelled.

All coursepacks and textbooks can be purchased online by accessing the Bookstore’s website. All you have to do is enter your student number to get the full list of course materials that must be purchased for this semester. 

Orders can be shipped to your home for only $7 +tx, or you may select free “pick-up” at the College. Orders are processed within 24-48 hours after receipt.

Online purchases will be available starting Tuesday, January 9. Please note that used books may also be available in Melanie Alden’s Office (SUB Building – MOU #15).

The College may have modified your course schedule. If you need to make adjustments or add courses, you may do so until January 26, 2024.  To make an appointment with your Academic Advisor, contact Student Records.

The official Ministry deadline to drop a course (have it removed from your schedule) is Wednesday, February 14, 2024. You must communicate with your Academic Advisor by this date to remove any courses that you are NOT attending from your schedule; otherwise, they will remain on your permanent academic transcript as failures.

The Ministerial Examination of College English (also referred to as the English Exit Exam), is a mandatory examination issued by the Quebec Ministry of Education. All students completing a program of studies are required to pass the exam in order to obtain their DEC. 

The next English Exit Exam will be:

May 15th, 2024

Eligibility

Students must have successfully completed two of the three English courses (603-101, 603-102, 603-103) and be in the process of completing the third (603-102 or 603-103) when they register for the examination. The Registrar’s Office will contact you about the exam when you are eligible.

Grab your schedule and look at the room number (starting with a letter) right above your teacher’s name. The letter indicates the building where your classes will be held, and the numbers indicate the floor and room number.

Example: J201. This class would be located on the second floor of the Johnson Building in room 201.

All students are required to have a student I.D. card, which is in a digital format and accessible in Omnivox.  Students who are unable to submit a photo through Omnivox will need to inform Student Records.

All new students will receive, in OMNIVOX (documents), a Login Account with a Username and Password, which gives you access to the Champlain computers and other access listed below:

There is free WiFi in the Champlain Building. Select the CRC-LENNOX network and enter your Username and Password when prompted. More details on how to log in can be found in the FAQ section. 

To access Office 365 go to www.office.com (this link is also in the top bar on the Champlain homepage).  Your Office 365 account is your Username followed by @crc-lennox.qc.ca (LE1234567@crc-lennnox.qc.ca) and the Password is your Champlain Computer Password.

Free agendas are available at the Champlain Students’ Association (CSA) office during your Orientation day tour.  If you missed Orientation, simply stop by Melanie Alden’s office located in the Mountain house – SUB building (MOU #15) during office hours. *Limited quantities.  First come, first served!*

Bus Pass

Bus passes are now available for purchase at the STS Office, Limocar or Pharmaprix Carrefour de l’Estrie. Once you have your card La Vermeilleuse, you can stop by our bookstore to reload it every month. For more information, you may contact the bookstore at store-lennox@crcmail.net.

Parking Pass

Parking Permits are now available for purchase through the HotSpot Parking app. You will need to download the app on your smart phone/tablet via the Apple App Store and Google Play or you can go onto the HotSpot website at www.htsp.ca. You must use your Champlain email address LE(your student number)@crc-lennox.qc.ca to create your profile.

Locker rental is now available! The rental price is $10, and you must supply your own lock. You may rent your locker by stopping by the Bookstore located in the front lobby of the Champlain Building.

ONLY IF you do not wish to have your photo, image, or video captured at Champlain College-sponsored activities or events and published for promotional purposes. Fill out the Student Photo/Image/Video Refusal form and return it to the Records Office by MIO. Students under 18 years old require a legal guardian to sign their form.

New Students 

Please bring any documentation from a:

The documentation must include the license number of the diagnosing professional. If the student only has an IEP or a plan intervention, we can provide accommodations, but we cannot register them with the government.

Returning students 

Returning students do not need to provide any documentation unless there is an updated diagnosis or if their original diagnosis was for a limited time. However, they need to:

1. Sign a new Omnivox Plan d’intervention (updated to the current semester)
2. Sign a new internal IEP (updated to the current semester)

If you need help with your well-being, personal counselling (stress, anxiety, motivation, feelings, relationship, crisis), academic issues, or indigenous student support, reach out to our team of social workers, social work technicians, and counsellors by sending an email to counsellingserviceslennox@crcmail.net.

You will be asked to fill out the intake form so we can provide you with the service that is right for you. A member of the team will reach out to you as soon as possible. If it’s during school hours, that’s usually within a day.

Did you know that you can meet with a doctor or a nurse on campus? The Health Clinic is located in the Sports Centre, room 2091 (offices are across from the pool windows). The clinic staff is available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 3:45 PM.

Come visit the Champlain Students’ Association (CSA) in the Mountain House building (SUB building). The easiest way to get to the CSA offices is by using the staircase right by the Purple Pod. Looking for lanyards and used books? You can purchase some at the main CSA office. 

The office hours are Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

It provides personal and individualized support services and activities designed to foster a sense of community and to support academic success for Indigenous students. The service also offers a dedicated gathering space in the form of a student lounge.

The Cougar Ambassador Leadership Team is a selected group of returning students here to support the student population through activities and by their presence at events.  They train together to prepare for orientation and include the Champlain Students’ Association executives, the Residence Life Team RAs, and students from each program at the College.

During orientation, they will be present with all groups, and then on hand during other events and activities throughout the year.  Their team motto is LEARN SHARE LEAD BUILD PRIDE, and their mission is: “To learn leadership skills as part of a team that supports fellow students to academic and personal success and builds community on campus and beyond.”

SEXed is a group of dedicated peers, supported by a small team of faculty, who are there to answer your questions and help you find what you need, from information to birth control. They support your sexual and romantic priorities with information on consent, healthy relationships, safer sex, peer pressure, and gender and sexual identity. All the Peer Educators have received training from specialist organizations. They organize information campaigns, fun events, a referral service, and safe spaces to explore a wide range of relevant issues. Our approach is non-judgmental, inclusive, diverse, and confidential.

This service is interfaith and fosters faith development, spirituality, and social justice. The Campus Minister provides pastoral services to all members of the campus community and is available to confidentially discuss whatever interests and concerns people may have.

There are various clubs available to students at Champlain-Lennoxville. Most of them are hosted in any given year on campus and nearly all of them are created and managed by students. The purpose of these clubs is to provide a place to meet new people who share a common interest, explore new things, develop different skills, learn about yourself, and have fun. Your Champlain student ID card is digital. It is available in the ”Services” tab of the Omnivox app.

Procedure to download your student ID card:
– Open the Omnivox app
– Upload a photo of yourself. To do so, you must click on the Services tab, and then on the Photo ID tab.
– Once approved, you will have access to your digital student card from your smartphone via the Omnivox mobile app. Your student card is under the tab Services, and then Student ID Card.

Yes! At the beginning of each semester, each student will receive a $5.00 credit for printing in the Champlain Building. The cost is 10 cents/page or 14 cents for recto-verso (both sides) or color print is 14 cents/page or 20 cents for recto-verso. To purchase print credit, students may contact Student Records.

Yes, you may extend your course of study to adapt your academic path to your reality. To do so, contact your Academic Advisor by MIO to schedule an appointment.

Some courses may be rescheduled to the following semester. However, please note that some courses are prerequisites to others or are not offered every semester.

You must take 4 classes (or 180 hours) per semester.

Yes, you can. However, if you are not following your program progression grid, your course of study may take longer to complete.
