Fall Guide for New Students

Your schedule

 

Your official schedule will be made available in August. A message will be posted on Omnivox to inform you that it is available.

 

Course changes

 

The College may have modified your course schedule.  If you need to make adjustments or add courses, you may do so from August – to -, 2022.  To make an appointment with your Academic Advisor, contact Student Records.

 

Course deletion deadline

 

The official Ministry deadline to drop a course (have it removed from your schedule) is – at 11:59 pm. You must communicate with your Academic Advisor by this date to remove any courses that you are NOT attending from your schedule; otherwise, they will remain on your permanent academic transcript as failures.

The fall orientation sessions for incoming students will be held on August 18th and 19th, 2022. More details and the location will be sent to students by MIO.

 

Please note that your presence is mandatory. If you cannot attend because of medical reasons, please contact Émilie Bureau by MIO.

1. Download the Omnivox app

For Android or Apple devices.

2. Submit your student identification photo

All students are required to have a student I.D. card, which is in a digital format and accessible in Omnivox.  Students who are unable to submit a photo through Omnivox will need to inform Student Records.

3. Pick up your free Champlain agenda

Free agendas are available at the Champlain Students’ Association (CSA) office during your Orientation day tour.  If you missed Orientation, simply stop by Melanie Alden’s office located in the Mountain house – SUB building (MOU #15) during office hours. *Limited quantities.  First come, first served!*

4. Buy your textbooks and coursepacks as early as possible

All coursepacks and textbooks can be purchased online by accessing the bookstore website.

Orders can be shipped to your home for only $5 +tx, or free delivery to Champlain Residences, or “pick-up” at the college.  If “pick-up” is selected, you will be contacted through MIO with your pick-up time. Purchases will be available starting —.

5. Purchase your bus (STS) or parking pass

Bus Pass

 

Bus passes are now available for purchase at the STS Office, Limocar or Pharmaprix Carrefour de l’Estrie. Once you have your card La Vermeilleuse, you can stop by our bookstore to reload it every month. For more information, you may contact the bookstore at store-lennox@crcmail.net.

 

Parking Pass

 

Parking Permits are now available for purchase through the HotSpot Parking app. You will need to download the app on your smart phone/tablet via the Apple App Store and Google Play or you can go onto the HotSpot website at www.htsp.ca.

– P1-P2 only $237.00 for the year

– P1-P2 only $133.00 for the semester

6. Rent a locker

Locker rental is now available! The rental price is $10, and you must supply your own lock. You may rent your locker by stopping by the Bookstore located in the front lobby of the Champlain Building.

7. Contact us if you require accommodations

8. Find your way around campus

Not sure where your classes are? We’re here to help you!

 

On your schedule, above your teacher’s name, you will find a room number starting with a letter. The letter stands for the name of a building.

 

Example: J201

 

It means that your class is in the Johnson Building, and it is located on the second floor.

 

C = Champlain

N = Nicolls

H = Hamilton

J = Johnson

B = Bandeen

MOL = Molson

SUB = Sub Building

GYM = Sports Centre

HANGAR2 = Hangar

9. Optional - Fill out the photo refusal form

ONLY IF you do not wish to have your photo, image, or video captured at Champlain College-sponsored activities or events and published for promotional purposes. Fill out the Student Photo/Image/Video Refusal form and return it to the Records Office by MIO. Students under 18 years old require a legal guardian to sign their form.

Champlain Students’ Association

 

Come visit the Champlain Students’ Association (CSA) in the Mountain House building (SUB building). The office hours are Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

Print Credit

 

At the beginning of each semester, each student will receive a $5.00 credit for printing in the Champlain building. The cost is 10 cents/page or 14 cents for recto-verso (both sides) or color print is 14 cents/page or 20 cents for recto-verso.  To purchase print credit, students may contact Student Records.

You must respect your move-in date and time without exception.

 

Only new students will receive a move-in time. It will be communicated to them individually.

 

For any inquiries about the Champlain residence, please email Residence@crcmail.net.  Please note that parking passes for the Champlain Residences must be purchased for students who wish to park at the residence.

Dewhurst Dining Hall

 

Location: In the center of Bishop’s Residence complex (Security building)

Menu: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner – All-you-can-eat option

Menu: Tacos, piazettas, dumplings, burritos, smoothies, lunch on the go, and more!

Tim Hortons

 

Location: Sports Centre

Menu: Sandwiches, soups, donuts, coffee/tea, and more!

Opening Hours: Mon-Thur, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fri, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. & Sat-Sun, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 

The Library Café

 

Location: Library Learning Commons

Menu: Bagels, sandwiches, soups, pastries, coffee/tea, and more!

Opening Hours: Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Bus Stop Café

 

Location: Between Nicolls and Hamilton Buildings.

Menu: Coffee, muffins, pastries, chili, sushi, and more! Gluten-free snacks are also available.

Opening Hours: Mon-Thur, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. & Fri, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

CHAMPLAIN COMPUTER ACCESS INFORMATION, WIFI, OFFICE 365

All new students will receive, in OMNIVOX (documents), a Login Account with a Username and Password, which gives you access to the Champlain computers and other access listed below:

 

There is free WiFi in the Champlain Building.  Select the CRC-LENNOX network and enter your  Username and Password when prompted.

 

To access Office 365 go to www.office.com (this link is also on the on the Champlain website).  Your Office 365 account is your Username followed by @crc-lennox.qc.ca (LE1234567@crc-lennnox.qc.ca) and the Password is your Champlain Computer Password.

CHAMPLAIN BOOKSTORE

All coursepacks and textbooks can be purchased online by accessing the following site: https://BookstoreLen.crc-sher.qc.ca

SEXUAL VIOLENCE TRAINING

All new students to Champlain Lennoxville are required to participate in a mandatory Sexual Violence training. More information on this will follow before the start of classes.

SCIENCE LABS

The professors in your theory classes will tell you when your labs will begin.

LOCKER RENTAL

PARTIAL REFUNDS

Partial refunds for students not coming to Champlain will be considered if the College is notified in writing BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES.
