Emergency and Security

At Champlain College, the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff are top priorities. Our Emergency and Security team is dedicated to maintaining a secure campus environment.

The Role of Campus Security

Ensure The Safety And Security Of Everyone

The responsibility of Campus Security is to ensure the safety and security of everyone on the Bishop’s University and Champlain College Lennoxville campus. Campus Security maintains a good working relationship with the Service de Police de la Région de Sherbrooke, who are responsible for investigating crimes and criminal activities on campus.

Buildings are Checked on a Daily Basis

All buildings are checked on a daily basis by Security Officers on foot patrols. The campus exterior is also patrolled on foot and with a Security Vehicle. Any suspicious persons and/or vehicles are checked.

Ensuring security at Champlain residences

Security at Champlain residences is ensured by guards from GardaWorld Security Services.

Emergency Protocol

To help ensure the safety and security of our community, the College has partnered with the Service de police de la Ville de Sherbrooke and broader educational partners in Estrie to produce the following video. The video includes specific plans to keep students, staff, and others safe in the event of an active shooter situation.

Safe Walk Program

SafeWalk is a volunteer-based walk-home program that includes a network of student volunteers who are dedicated to keeping their fellow Gaiters and Cougars safe. The service allows students to walk home from night classes, late study sessions, or anywhere around Lennoxville with the company of our volunteers. The program is to ensure that each member of the Bishop’s and Champlain community is comfortable walking home after dark.

IMPORTANT

To call for a walk-home, please contact Campus Security at (819) 822-9711. To volunteer for the SafeWalk program, please fill out the form.
