Paul

Paul Lehmann – Head Lacrosse Coach

Paul is originally from Vancouver, BC and moved to Quebec to pursue short track speed skating. During that time he attended Champlain College and graduated from Bishop’s University. Paul has a wealth of experience in lacrosse having led multiple Provincial, Junior B and Senior B teams over the years. In 2015 he helped coach Team Canada U17 at the World Games where the team went undefeated. This past year he was named head coach of the 2021 Quebec Canada Games men’s team. Paul also delivers many NCCP field and box coaching clinics throughout Eastern Canada. In field Paul co-founded the Bishop’s team in 2000 with Damien Roy. While coaching Bishop’s the team played in three university national finals (Baggataway Cup) over 5 seasons. As a player Paul played Jr. A for Coquitlam and was a member of the 1993 Minto Cup finalist team. He captained the Bishop’s field team from 2000 to 2002. In his final year, the team’s first year as a full member of the university league, the team made the Baggataway Cup final only to lose a heart breaker in triple overtime. Paul took over the Champlain lacrosse team in September 2019. In his first season the team made the RSEQ playoffs. Paul currently lives in Sherbrooke with his wife Josiane and son Jérémy.

Paolo D’Emilio – Lacrosse Coach

Paolo grew up in Southern Ontario playing soccer. The sport led him to Brock University in St Catharines where the team won a CIS National Championship in 2002. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education from Brock, Paolo went on to complete a Bachelor of Education degree from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. Currently Paolo teaches physical education at Champlain College. As a coach he splits his time between the Champlain men’s soccer and lacrosse teams. Paolo lives in Lennoxville with his wife Laurie Anne and two lacrosse playing sons Massimo and Luca.

Damien Roy – Lacrosse Coach

Damien grew up in the Sherbrooke region having graduated from both Champlain College and Bishop’s University. Damien played numerous levels of box lacrosse mostly as a goalie. As a coach, Damien was a Master Coach Developer from 2003 to 2012. For several years, Damien was the head coach of Senior B teams in Sherbrooke and Windsor. He also co-founded the Bishop’s University team as the head coach and program director leading the team for over 10 years. While coaching Bishop’s, the team played in five national finals (Baggataway Cup) and won the Cup in 2011. Since 2018 he has been the assistant coach at Champlain College. Damien currently lives in Sherbrooke with his three daughters Gabrielle, Emilia and Adele.

Gabriel Wapachee – Lacrosse Coach

Gabriel is from Ouje-Bougoumou, QC. He grew up playing hockey for teams in Chibougamau and Ouje-Bougoumou. In 2009, he took up boxing and continued in the sport for 10 years. Throughout his high school studies he balanced hockey and boxing as well as running cross-country. In Gabriel’s first year at CEGEP, he played for the Champlain lacrosse team from 2014 to 2017. After Champlain he decided to pursue his student-athlete career at Bishop’s University where he played for the Gaiters from 2017 to 2020 while specializing in faceoffs. Gabriel is continuing his studies at l’UQTR and travels to Lennoxville for practices and games. Gabriel currently lives in Saint-Francois-du-Lac with his pregnant fiancé Jade and son Henry.
