Champlain College is located in Lennoxville, a borough of the city of Sherbrooke, located in the heart of the majestic Eastern Townships. It offers all of the amenities of a prosperous small town: a variety of restaurants, banks, churches of various denominations, a supermarket, health food store, etc. Lennoxville is designated as a bilingual borough and municipal services are provided in both English and French.
The center of Sherbrooke (population 165 000) is located only 5 km to the north and is the sixth largest city in the province of Quebec. A public transportation (STS) provides bus service within the city. Sherbrooke has 5 education institutions of higher learning that educates some 40,000 students and employs about 11,000 people. University students comprise 10.32% of the population, the highest concentration in Quebec.
The Sherbrooke region is surrounded by mountains, rivers and lakes. There are several ski hills nearby and various tourist attractions in the region. Parc du Mont Bellevue, a large park in the city, is a popular destination for skiing and fat biking in the winter. Magog, a popular lakeside attraction, is a 35 minute drive. Newport, Vermont, the closest city in the U.S. is about 45 minutes by car from Lennoxville.
