CONGRATULATIONS to Green Champlain for winning one of three $1500 awards from the FEC (Féderation des enseignantes et enseignants de CEGEP) for their efforts to sensitize and educate the Champlain community on environmental and economic issues. Under the leadership of Champlain student Stanislas Pettigrew and faculty member Rodney Leggett, the group’s initiatives have included information displays, healthy eating cooking lessons, a garbage collection drive along the path to residence and a visit to Sherbrooke’s recycling plant. This particular prize, the Prix Nicole Fortin, is awarded annually to groups of college students involved in initiatives that sensitize and / or mobilize the college community around political, social or environmental issues. The $1500 prize will allow the group to plan and carry out further events.
